Powdered sugar

After the holidays are over and it hasn't snowed in over three weeks I like to remember the desserts of Christmas time by skiing snow called "Powdered Sugar". It reminds me of delicious cookies rolled in that magically sweet substance. It makes a whooshing sound as it pours down the mountain in front of skiers, gaining momentum. It is a time for good turns high alpine January light, and waiting for that good ol' jet to swing our way. The local powder hounds are enthusiastically skiing off of nearly every big peak imaginable in a classic San Juan snowpack. Thats the news for now, and here is a photo from a not so secret mountain ridge across the street from Silverton Mountain.
